Swilly Sound present RNLI with money raised from 'Shores of the Swilly'

Members of Swilly Sound present the funds to Lough Swilly RNLI
This hauntingly beautiful song was written by multi award winning songwriter Phil Coulter, who tragically lost his sister and brother in separate incidents on Lough Swilly.
Recorded during lockdown as a fundraising initiative and involving contributors from as far away as South East Asia the group had to overcome many obstacles to complete the project.
One of the group members, Louise Doherty said: “On behalf of all of us at SwillySound we would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project.
“We are very grateful for the generosity of all the people who have made a donation. We are so privileged to have these brave RNLI volunteers who selflessly risk their lives in all kinds of atrocious conditions to save the lives of others. “Please continue to support Lough Swilly RNLI and help prevent further loss of life in the water.” ....

Crowdsourced funds will help Fermanagh Tenor record debut album

OVER the past few years, Fermanagh tenor Andrew Irwin has been making a name for himself in the world of opera – however, when the pandemic struck last year and live performances were cancelled, he quickly found himself out of work for the foreseeable future.
With his tenacious attitude, Andrew has been making the most of a bad situation.
He returned to his Fermanagh home of Monea, where he has since been teaching singing lessons virtually and has been taking the opportunity to perform, virtually, when possible.
Now, Andrew is planning to record his debut album – a commercial CD of Irish songs which he is raising funds for by way of pre-orders. ....

Sinead O039Connor - Universal Mother (14 tracks) +Album Reviews +Used CD available for Swap

| 05/13/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)
By the time Univeral Mother came out, Sinead had become high on my list of favorite female artists - solely because of Lion and the Cobra and I Do Not Want What I Haven t Got . Being objective, this CD has some beautiful arrangements, but only about half of the songs really grabbed me, but when they grabbed me, they REALLY grabbed me. I enjoyed Red Football because of its message and I love how the song ends on a very angry, retaliatory way. I also was touched by Scorn Not His Simplicity , which is a beautifully touching song about a mother whose child is not like all the others and deals powerfully with a mother s feelings of what did I do wrong to deserve this and why was my child born this way . It is just an incredibly powerful song and very well written. I was surprised how much I loved All Apologies and I honestly think I like her version better than Kurt Cobain s, but I do like Kurt s as well. But, my all-time f ....

The Bay City Rollers: Billy Sloan pays tribute to Les

THE night of my 60th birthday in 2015 turned out to be a little bit special.
I celebrated this milestone by going to see The Bay City Rollers play live at Barrowland in Glasgow.
During the concert, I got the surprise of my life when I was inducted into the Barrowland Hall of Fame … becoming the first music journalist to receive such an accolade.
On stage – before the 1500-capacity, tartan clad audience – singer Les McKeown presented me with a handsome trophy.
Minutes later he was singing a song whose chorus went:
“Well we sang Shang-A-Lang/As we ran with the gang/Doin’ doo wop be dooby do ay.” ....
