The Department of Science and Technology and QBO Innovation Hub recently rewarded top-performing Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) that have demonstrated outstanding capabilities and produced impactful programs and startups during the TBI 4.0 Program.
The TBI 4.0 program, funded by the DOST’s Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and led by QBO Innovation Hub, aims to develop world-class TBIs and incubator managers and increase the number of quality tech startups in the Philippines.
The program, which was initiated in 2019, also elevated the capacity and services of the 12 DOST-supported TBIs from all over the country, many of which were affiliated with local universities. The 12 TBIs and their partner universities consist of: ....

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 19) A Filipino student won recognition at the 2020 International Literary Prize of the UK-based Hammond House Publishing, with his short story chosen as one of the winning entries under the Editor s Choice category.
Christian Andrei Laplap, a University of the Philippines Cebu student, received the award for his piece The Oddity That Is Them which tackles mental health. This was confirmed by UP Cebu in a press release on Wednesday.
According to UP Cebu, the winning literary works will be published in the annual Hammond House anthologies, expected to be released this February. ....

Former TV news reporter, UP Cebu alumna -- who covered Cebu Capitol, Eddie Gullas in early 80s -- starts her term as Hawaii elected senator

(UPDATED) BENNETTE Espineli Misalucha, who worked as a TV news reporter and anchor in Cebu City before migrating to Hawaii, was appointed state senator July 9 last year, following the death of the incumbent legislator, Senator Breene Harimoto. Misalucha won the special election held last November 3 and will begin this month serving the rest of Harimoto s term as an elected replacement. She fills the seat until November 7, 2022, with right to unlimited reelection.
Misalucha represents Hawaii s District 16, which includes Pearl City and the world-famous Pearl Harbour. She is one of the state Senate s 25 members, compared to the 51 lawmakers in the state s House of Representatives. ....
