Philippines: 'Stricter' border controls sought for passengers from Middle East


Stricter border control measures were sought for passengers coming from the Middle East as the Philippines recorded two cases of the B.1.617 variant of coronavirus, the country’s top health official said on Wednesday (May 12, 2021).
Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said his agency will recommend the fresh travel curbs. “I will recommend that, certainly. But I am in touch with our WHO (World Health Organisation) country representative in the same manner that we have expanded our travel ban beyond India… Rest assured I will make that recommendation,” he told the ABS-CBN network.

2GO Travel s newly acquired vessel from Japan is set to make its maiden voyage in May.
As part of pre-launch efforts, 2GO is offering discounted tickets until May 3 for June 1 to December 15 voyages.
2GO said travel from Batangas to Caticlan and Roxas are priced at P299 for a one-way trip with 50-kilogram baggage allowance.
Manila to Bacolod, Cebu, Coron, Iloilo, Dumaguete, and Puerto Princesa are priced at P399, while Manila to Butuan, Iligan, Ozamiz, Zamboanga, and Cagayan de Oro are offered at P499.
This new acquisition is part of our continuing efforts to upgrade our fleet, modernize our operations, and to provide a better passenger experience in sea travel.
