Illinois public health officials reported 3,170 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 33 related deaths Thursday.
There have been 1,312,722 total COVID cases, including 21,755 deaths in the state since the pandemic began.
As of Wednesday night, 2,147 patients in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 511 patients were in the ICU and 238 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported testing 88,336 specimens for a total of 22,008,695 since the pandemic began. ....

The first official week of COVID-19 vaccinations for seniors and essential workers in Illinois has sparked mixed emotions and many questions about the process of getting vaccinated.
The vast majority of Illinois seniors and front-line essential workers who are eligible for vaccinations under the phase that started Monday have not yet received shots. Supply remains extremely limited.
