Bono and the Edge of
U2 joined forces with Glen Hansard and other musicians for a live rendition of Darlene Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on a holiday episode of Ireland’s
Late Late Show on Friday night (December 18).
The show was a celebration of the annual Christmas Eve busking gigs on Dublin’s Grafton Street, inaugurated by Hansard a decade ago in aid of homeless charities in the city. It opened with Danny O’Reilly of the Coronas and Steve Garrigan of Kodaline combining on Mic Christopher’s “Heyday.”

The special also featured Shane MacGowan, John Sheahan of the Dubliners, Finbar Furey, Lisa O’Neill, and Vivienne Long performing “Raglan Road,” with Imelda May joining via Zoom. Hansard and Philip Powell, who was himself homeless for 20 years, covered ....

The guests have already been revealed for tonight s Late Late Show on RTE with Ryan Tubridy which is the last one for 2020.
This Friday night is a very special one with The Late Late Show Busk for Simon.
Ten years ago, Glen Hansard first took to Grafton Street with an ensemble of well-known musician friends to raise money for Ireland s homeless, a tradition that Glen has kept going since.
This year, the traditional Christmas Eve busk cannot take place in Dublin city centre, but The Late Late Show will be bringing the magic of that Grafton Street evening directly into viewer s homes in aid of the Simon Community. ....

Late Late Show Raises €1.2M For Simon Community With Stellar Busk

The Late Late Show aired for the final time in 2020 on Friday evening and it was a cracker of a programme.
Ryan and the gang brought the annual Simon Community busk to TV screens this year, rounding up some of Ireland’s most celebrated musicians for a charity sing-song in studio.
The busk, which normally takes place on Grafton Street to raise money for Ireland’s homeless, was cancelled this year due to the health pandemic and so Glen Hansard rallied his talented friends to join him in the Late Late studio for a televised session.
The Once genius, who spearheaded the whole busk some ten years ago, was joined by the likes of Bono and The Edge, Finbarr Fury, Imelda May, Roisin O, John Sheahan, Steve Garrigan of Kodaline, Danny O’Reilly and others on last night’s feel-good show. ....
