The first stage of the project was originally scheduled to finish by the end of May, but was extended because of historic building foundations, according to District of Muskoka Director of Transportation and Engineering Mark Misko. “A lot of these buildings are very old, to say the least, and they’ve got some interesting foundations that we had to work with,” says Misko. “That’s some of the reason we’re seeing a bit of a slower amount of progress through this area, but everything else looks to be on track and on budget for the schedule.” ....
Hundreds of workers flee east London site fire Picture: London Fire Brigade Up to 600 construction workers fled the scene of a fire at a construction site in Newham yesterday, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB). Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to the Vistry site on Brunel Street in Newham yesterday afternoon after a fire broke out in one of the flats under construction. According to the LFB, firefighters tackled a blaze within a three roomed flat on the second floor of the 11-storey building. No injuries were reported but a significant part of the flat was damaged by the fire. ....
