Security is the top risk to enterprise multi-cloud adoption
New research from IT services provider Ensono finds that security is the biggest concern for IT professionals considering, or already using, multi-cloud strategies.
UK IT professionals rate security, governance and cost optimization as their top three concerns for multi-cloud strategies, while security, cost optimization and maintaining a positive end user experience are the top concerns in the US.
Managing cloud deployments has led many to look for external support, 43 percent of surveyed IT leaders have turned to a Managed Service Provider (MSP) to overcome issues with their multi-cloud strategy. Of those working with MSPs, 46 percent are attracted by the prospect of faster time to adoption, and 44 percent by the ability to tap into skills that are unavailable or lacking internally. ....

New research has found that security is the most significant concern for IT professionals considering, or are already using, multi-cloud strategies – topping the list of worries amongst both US and UK respondents.
Cloudy Ensono released new research into the wide array of challenges facing US and UK IT leaders’ multi-cloud strategy. After security, UK IT leaders’ top fears for their multi-cloud strategy were governance and cost optimisation.
US respondents were more worried about cost optimisation and maintaining a positive end-user experience next on the list.
The report said that managing these challenges can be a complicated process for many businesses. Forty-three percent of surveyed IT leaders have turned to a Managed Service Provider (MSP) to overcome issues with their multi-cloud strategy. ....

Google parent Alphabet reported a profit of $41.2bn for the full year 2020 as total sales of advertising soared.
The company’s total sales in 2020 reached $182.3bn after its fourth-quarter sales, at $57bn, were 23% higher than the same period in 2019. Advertising accounting for most of this ($168bn).
Alphabet’s Google cloud computing business made over $13bn in sales for the full year, compared to $8.9bn in 2019, but the division reported a loss of $5.6bn during the period – about $1bn more than the year before. ....
