Shut up and get in line that s the message Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan recently broadcasted to FTC staffers. Within her first month as a new commissioner, Khan ordered a stop to all public speaking for an all-hands-on-deck moment. Evidently, she wants the FTC speaking with only one voice her own. The gag order is going to run out the top economists and harm the FTC s long-term effectiveness.
Khan rose to academic stardom at a young age as a vocal critic of Big Tech, especially Amazon. In her most famous writing, Amazon s Antitrust Paradox, she argued for stronger antitrust enforcement even when companies are lowering prices for consumers. A former superintendent of the Westosha Central High School District in Paddock Lake will continue to direct the decision-making body of Gateway Technical College.
R. Scott Pierce, who has served on the Gateway District Board since 2009, was appointed to serve as chairperson for the next year at an organizational meeting Monday. Pierce held the position this past year and was again tapped to serve in the leadership role by his eight elected colleagues.

The size and scope of Gateway Technical Collegeâs nursing-focused Lincoln Building overhaul is set to expand as officials announced plans for a new training facility.
Gatewayâs District Board on Thursday gave its approval to remodel the third floor of the Lincoln Building on the Racine campus. The project, which requires final authority from the Wisconsin Technical College System, carries an estimated $1.5 million price tag.
Remodeling the 4,433 square feet of space on the third floor is a reflection of the collegeâs partnership with Advocate Aurora Health. Plans call for repurposing the area for skills labs and additional classrooms.
