SEVIERVILLE â The Sevier County School System made the decision to move all students to virtual learning beginning Thursday, Dec. 17, and remain in virtual learning for the remaining four days of the semester due to COVID-19 concerns.
The school system hopes to return to in-person learning at the end of winter break, which is Jan. 7 for students.
The students with positive cases of COVID-19 actually went down slightly, school officials said, but the number of faculty and staff out for COVID-19 or quarantined for possible exposure remains high.
âWe are at about 10% absenteeism right now (for faculty and staff),â said Tony Ogle, Director of Pupil/Personnel Services.
