WHITLEY COUNTY â A Williamsburg man accused of killing his girlfriend and storing her body in a trash can has had a future pretrial conference date scheduled in Whitley County Circuit Court.
John Meadows, 58, is scheduled to reappear in court on July 19. Meadows was arraigned and pleaded not guilty in April after he was indicted earlier that month on one count murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Meadows is accused of killing Donna G. Lay who was reported missing on January 27. She was last seen on January 7.
After interviewing Meadows multiple times during their investigation into Layâs whereabouts, the Williamsburg Police Department was able to obtain a warrant to search the apartment shared by the two located on South 10th Street in Williamsburg.
Two Williamsburg residents were arrested on drug charges Monday after a traffic stop.
Sarah Powers, 34, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (meth), possession of a controlled substance (heroin), second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, no/expired registration plates, and failure to produce insurance.
Matthew Thomas, 30, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (meth), second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.
Williamsburg Police Department Officer Bryson Lawson and K-9 Officer Johnny Fulton arrested Powers and Thomas following a traffic stop on a gray 2005 Saturn, on Lindenburg Drive in the Highland Park community, according to a press release to a WPD press release.

WILLIAMSBURG â The Williamsburg Police Department is seeking information from the public on the whereabouts of Justin L. Dodd.
Dodd is wanted by the Williamsburg Police Department on felony warrants for second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft of identity of another with out consent and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Williamsburg Police Department reported several drug arrests over the weekend.
At 2:19 a.m. Monday, WPD Officer Bryson Lawson and Officer Dorman Patrick Jr. arrested one individual and cited two others to court at Super 8 Motel following an investigation. Meth and drug paraphernalia were found inside the motel room during the officers investigation.
