TOWER - Yes, the Fourth of July is back, but for Tower-Soudan this year, it will be celebrated on Saturday, July 3.
Most of the traditional activities are back on track, with a few changes.
The parade starts at 11 a.m., but come to City Hall at 10:30 a.m. for the flag raising and singing of the National Anthem. Float judging is at 10 a.m. at the parade line-up at the Tower Civic Center parking lot.
The Tower-Soudan Civic Club’s pancake breakfast has been canceled, due to safety concerns, but most other traditional activities are on the schedule. ....

Two-vehicle crash in Breitung Township


BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, MI    Two adults and two children were taken to the hospital following an accident in Breitung Township Tuesday. 
State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say it happened at about 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of US-2 and US-141.
Troopers say 38-year-old Jamie Granquist was driving eastbound with an 11-year-old passenger when she failed to stop for a red light. Her vehicle collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 35-year-old Amber Fleming, who had a 3-year-old passenger.
The occupants of both vehicles were taken to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Troopers say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. ....

IRON MOUNTAIN Applications are due May 13 for an Iron Mountain City Council seat representing Ward 3 after council member Robert “Butch” Schinderle resigned Monday.
The council plans to make an appointment at its May 17 meeting for a term that expires with the Nov. 2 council election.
Schinderle, who was not seeking re-election, has faced time constraints as his young son battles leukemia, Mayor Dale Alessandrini said. He was appointed to fill the Ward 3 seat in June 2019 after Amanda List resigned.
The council accepted his resignation with regret and will advertise the vacancy. Ward 3 is generally the area south of C Street. ....
