Last October, the same observatory registered another fireball over the border between Rio Grande do Sul and Uruguay. At the time, Jung stated that the meteor was the largest, in size and magnitude , recorded in Rio Grande do Sul, since 2016.
According to the Brazilian Meteor Monitoring Network (Bramon), 2020 was the year with the highest number of high magnitude meteors since 2016, when this type of phenomenon began to be observed and recorded in Brazil.
