Vestas bags 212MW Brazil turbine order


Vestas has secured a 212MW turbine order for a wind project in Brazil.
Vestas will supply Omega Energia with turbines for the Assurua 4 project, located in the cities of Gentio do Ouro and Xique-Xique, in Bahia.
The order includes 47 V150-4.2MW wind turbines delivered in 4.5MW power optimised mode and will service the turbines for 10 years.
The delivery of wind turbines is planned for the second half of 2022, with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
With this project, Vestas has now exceeded 5GW of orders in the Brazilian market for the V150 wind turbines in 4.2MW standard rating and 4.5MW power optimised modes. ....

Vestas has signed a new agreement with Omega Energia for the 212 MW Assuruá 4 project, located in the cities of Gentio do Ouro and Xique-Xique, in Bahia, Brazil. The order includes 47 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines delivered in 4.5 MW Power Optimised Mode as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract, optimising the energy production for the lifetime of the project.
With this project, Vestas’ surpasses the milestone of 5 GW of order intake in Brazil for the V150 wind turbines in 4.2 MW standard rating and 4.5 MW Power Optimised Modes. The milestone is reached a year and a half after the turbine variant started being produced in the country. The wind turbines are locally produced under the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) FINAME rules, creating jobs, expanding Brazil’s wind energy industry, and supporting the government’s initiative to promote renewables and a more sustainable energy mix. ....

Large-tiers were the best performing subset of the market, up an average of 13.2%. Osisko Gold Royalties (TSE:OR) (↑14.8% 1-month & ↑12.9% 3-months) and Sandstorm Gold Ltd (TSE:SVC) (↑14.7% 1-month & ↑20.7% 3-months) were the best performing large-tier companies.
Osisko’s preliminary first quarter of 2021 (Q121) results were strong, with 19,960 attributable gold equivalent ounces produced during the first quarter. The company generated revenues of C$66.9mln (US$54.3mln) during the first quarter with a cash operating margin of around C$46.5mln (US$37.8mln). ....
