App State women’s basketball senior guard Pre Stanley (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge) has signed a training camp contract with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA. The Mystics have been one of the more successful franchises in recent memory with a pair of trips to the WNBA Finals in the past three years, highlighted by a championship in 2019. Stanley is the first player in program history to receive a WNBA Training Camp invite. “Pre has truly made an impact over her four years at App State,” head coach Angel Elderkin said. “Her growth both on and off the court is one of the reasons why she has a great opportunity in front of her. We cannot wait to see the next steps of her career in professional basketball. We know she will make App State proud.” ....
App State women’s basketball senior teammates Lainey Gosnell (Demorest, Ga./Habersham Central) and Pre Stanley (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge) were named to the Sun Belt All-Conference teams, as the league announced on Thursday. Stanley earns a postseason all-conference award for the second time in her career, while Gosnell collects her first all-conference honor. The tandem helped App State accomplish a second winning season in the past three years, was one of four teams in the Sun Belt to win at least 10 games, and made an appearance in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament. Stanley and Gosnell are the first Mountaineer teammates to make the all-conference team since 2016-17 while it’s the first time since 2014-15 (Maryah Syndor) a player has made the all-first team. ....
App State women’s basketball senior guard Pre Stanley (Rockledge, Fla./Rockledge) was named to the All-Sun Belt Tournament team. Stanley is named to the all-tournament team for the second time in the last three seasons following a stellar run to the semifinals. App State picked up wins over ULM and a quarterfinal victory against UTA. The Rockledge, Fla., native led the team in scoring with an average of 20 points over three games. She also grabbed seven rebounds per game and three assists, while she finished fourth in scoring in the tournament. The Apps’ leading scorer dropped back-to-back 20-point performances, highlighted by an impressive outing of 29 points and 14 rebounds in the narrow loss to No. 1 seed Troy. Stanley tied a career-high in points and pulled down a personal best in rebounds for her first-career double-double. ....
