Ghaziabad: The sex ratio in Ghaziabad has improved from 870 to 915 in the past decade, but has gone down in the last one year.
According to figures sourced from the health department, the number of women for every 1,000 men in the district was 961 in 2020, but has reduced to 915 this year.
The district’s sex ratio was a cause for concern 10 years ago. In 2011, Ghaziabad’s sex ratio was 870, which was lower than the state’s figure of 912.
The next year, it reduced further to 818. However, the gap between the number of men and women gradually increased over the years. From 928 in 2018, it increased to 961 in 2020. ....

Kulgam: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, today chaired a meeting of District Advisory Committee for implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC&PNDT) and to review the initiatives for implementation of the Act against the prenatal testing for sex determination.
Threadbare discussion was held on various aspects of the Act including issuance of registration certificates for various ultrasound clinics, ensuring continual monitoring of these establishments, enhancing accountability to prevent violations etc.

From strengthening mechanisms to monitor female infanticide to participation of children in Gram Sabhas, a child rights manifesto, with various demands, for Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections 2021 was released in the city on Wednesday.
The manifesto was prepared by the Tamil Nadu Child Rights Watch (TNCRW), Campaign Against Child Labour - Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Forum for Promotion of Child Participation - Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Right to Education Forum - Tamil Nadu. The state government believes that a 111-point drop over a five-year period could not be explained as a normal variation.
A few days after the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) showed a significant decline in Maharashtra’s sex ratio, the state government has asked district health officials to ensure a more rigorous implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC-PNDT) which prohibits sex-determination tests with the objective of preventing female foeticide. ....
