Melville-Jack plans to revitalise Scarborough File photo: The PNM’s Marslyn Melville-Jack speaks to supporters after filing her nomination paper last week. - People’s National Movement (PNM) candidate for Scarborough/Calder Hall Marslyn Melville-Jack has called on businessmen to play their part in developing the island’s capital city. “At this point in time, Scarborough leaves a lot to be desired,” She said on Sunday during a political meeting at the Eric Hovel Recreation Ground, Calder Hall. “So this is a clarion call to the private-sector large business owners within the Scarborough district. I am calling on you this evening to meet with me when I am the next representative for Scarborough/Calder Hall, so that we can formulate plans to improve the structures and revitalise industry within our capital.” ....
Kenetta Bobb at the ceremony on Tuesday to rename the street in her honour. - Cradley Trace, in the Scarborough/ Calder Hall district, has been renamed Kenetta Bobb Drive to honour a retired Scarborough Secondary teacher. Residents of the area and Scarborough Secondary alumnus Kevon Mc Kenna recommended renaming the street renamed not only to honour Bobb but to avert postal errors caused by duplicated street names. There is another Cradley Trace in the same district. Newsday was told there are a number of duplicated street names in the district that have caused confusion for decades. In 2017 the Tobago House of Assembly started a continuing initiative to name every street in Tobago. ....

The two-storey project, which began under former Secretary of the Division of Tourism and Transportation Tracy Davidson-Celestine, cost $25 million. It was handed over by Secretary of the Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour Marslyn Melville Jack. The centre, which falls under the Business Development Unit at the division, initially catered for 17 businesses but was expanded, owing to the overwhelming interest shown by applicants. ....
