Prominent Nigerians have continued to mourn the passage of the Spokesman of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, who died at the weekend.
They include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, a former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and professor of Sociology Lai Olurode; Chairman, Afenifere Renewal Group, Wale Oshun and Chairman of Council of Yoruba Global Alliance, Akogun Tola Adeniyi.
Makinde described the death of Odumakin as personal loss of a good brother and a great loss to the Yoruba race.

Breaking News | Breaking News Oyo NSCDC seals unlicensed security companies

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ibadan, said on Thursday that it had sealed two unregistered private security guard companies for non-renewal of their operating licenses.
The Command also said that it arrested nine security guards for illegal operation in the state.
The Commandant of NSCDC in Oyo State, Iskilu Akinsanya, made the disclosure on Thursday during a sensitization programme for desk officers of private guard companies across all divisions in the state at the Command headquarters, Agodi Ibadan.
He said that the nine arrested private guards are staff of Guards of Blakes Security; Proactive Security; and Leaders of Men Security. ....

A 58-year-old man, Francis Abayomi, has been arrested by the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for defiling a seven-year-old girl, Akinpelu Emmanuella, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Abayomi was said to have defiled Emmanuella on November 25, 2020 at Kutamiti Street at Bashorun.
The suspect, who was arraigned before the Magistrate in charge of Family Court 1, Iyaganku, Ibadan, S. H. Adebisi, was ordered to be remanded in NSCDC custody at the state headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan. ....

Participants at the International Press Centre’s (IPC) media roundtable and stakeholders’ forum on journalists’ safety and press freedom limitations in Nigeria held in Lagos last week have restated the need for safety of journalists to be given desired attention and utmost priority.
Drawn from the print, electronic, online media, academics and civil society, the participants observed that the country’s media space is shrinking, which adversely, is affecting journalists’ output.
In his welcome remarks, Executive Director, IPC, Lanre Arogundade, said safety of journalists in Nigeria requires special attention, adding that there is urgent need to address the situation, as the country is now one of the most dangerous and difficult countries for the media to operate in West Africa. ....
