Medical Workers In Belgium Given Virus Vaccine
Belgium has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic, seeing 20,435 confirmed deaths.
Intensive care and emergency room staff at a hospital in the Belgian city of Liege began receiving vaccines against COVID-19 on Monday. The Liege CHR (Regional Hospital Centre) is administering first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to staff on a voluntary basis.
A staff survey indicates that 85-90% of the staff plan to receive the vaccine. Knowing that we are now participating in the eradication of this pandemic is extraordinary, said Sandrine Balon, assistant to the Director of Care at Liege CHR.The hospital expects it to take 6 weeks to finish giving the first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to its employees.
