Quebec scientists have succeeded in isolating infectious particles of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from air samples collected from hospital rooms of COVID-19 patients and kept frozen for more than a year, a new study shows.
The research of Nathalie Grandvaux s team, in collaboration with other researchers, sheds light on the scientific field of airborne transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
“In theory, we should have all the tools we need to manage things before we get to a point where we need to impose measures,” said Dr. Nathalie Grandvaux. “But we’re not doing anything to make sure we don’t end up in those circumstances.”
