The first survey ran from May 31to June 6, with 19 responses total. Of the 19 respondents, 12 were business owners. Of those 12 business owners, 11 of them did not have a downtown based business. Respondents ranked which ideas and actions proposed by the city were actually important for improving downtown vibrancy. While respondents gave many interesting ideas on how to improve downtown, the basic consensus was that Fort Saskatchewan needed more people to come downtown, and it was essential to give them a reason to stick around. Incoming candidates must be mindful about downtown regulations, as these can hinder business if they aren’t well thought out.
