Turkey manufacturers complain of more ill-treatment by brands

The second wave of the pandemic has dented orders in Turkey s key export markets
Nearly a year after the Covid-19 pandemic adversely impacted the Turkish garment sector, the country s clothing manufacturers are once again complaining of ill-treatment by major brands amid subdued market demand.
The year has not started well. We are again facing some unfair treatment by some brands, Hadi Karasu, president of the Turkish clothing manufacturers association TGSD (Türkiye Giyim Sanayicileri Dernegi) told just-style.
Last April, at the height of the first wave of the pandemic, the TGSD issued a statement in the International Textile Manufacturers Federation s (ITMF) newsletter calling on global brands to act in unity with their manufacturing partners. Manufacturers complained of buyers freezing orders, delaying payments and demanding discounts on pre-existing orders. ....

Titan Company completes exit from Montblanc JV

Titan Company on Friday announced that it has completed its exit from Montblanc India Retail Private Limited (MB India).
Consequently, MB India ceases to be an associate/ JV company of the company with effect from 12 March 2021.
Earlier in October 2020, the company had informed the exchanges regarding the ending of its joint venture with MB Services in respect of its shareholding, which was mainly driven by the Titan s consolidation strategy to focus on its primary business and proprietary brands.
Subsequently, the company exercised its put option under the joint venture agreement and accordingly its 49% holding in MB India was transferred to the purchaser on 12 March 2021. ....

Marketers are underpaying Black influencers: Businessweek

Bloomberg s Businessweek found that Black influencers are underpaid compared to white peers.
Sometimes they re even paid less compared to white creators that mimic their content, the report found.
Black influencers told Bloomberg they would get paid in products as opposed to cash.
White people who are popular on social media tend to make more money than Black stars, according to Bloomberg s BusinessWeek.
The same is true for when Black influencers have more followers or are doing creative work that s later appropriated by white people, the report found, citing interviews with dozens of influencers. Sometimes they re not paid but instead given products from brands. ....
