Over the weekend, the Maine Moose 18U team that plays out of Camden National Bank Ice Vault in Hallowell captured the United States Premier Hockey League 18U American Division title. The Moose defeated the Palmyra Black Knights 4-3 Sunday in York, Pennsylvania in the American final.
Two Lewiston-Auburn area connections were on the team, in Jacob Lewis of Auburn and Nate Marcotte of Sabattus. Lewis had an assist on Cameron Rizzo’s (West Gardiner) game-winning goal in the third period.
“We had a young team and coach (Matt) Lavallee does a good job with that group,” Maine Moose owner and Twin City Thunder co-owner Ben Gray said. “It’s a tough league and I was really impressed with how they went down and played really good hockey and came away with the championship.”
Erath County Junior Livestock Show wraps up for another year

The 2021 Erath County Junior Livestock Show wrapped up Friday and Saturday with the beef, dairy and horse shows and culminated with the annual Sale of Champions Auction.
This year, in addition to the live auction in the show ring, the Sale of Champions was available virtually through Stock Show Auctions. Individual results from the auction are available by going to stockshowauctions.com and searching for the Erath County Junior Livestock Show.
In addition, exhibitors were recognized for The Herdsmanship Program sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau. The program is designed to encourage and acknowledge the work of 4-H and FFA exhibitors as they care for their livestock at the show, and work effectively with superintendents and the public.

Within the past 2 months Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff s Office Drug Unit have arrested 20 people involved in the use and distribution of a controlled substance. Their arrest stemmed from Investigators receiving complaints from Crime Stoppers and concerned citizens. Investigators used multiple investigative techniques involving surveillance, traffic stops and undercover purchases.
Darius Blackledge, 21 years of age, of 105 Randolph Road in Washington. Blackledge was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Carrying a Concealed Gun and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Messiah Barnes-Lofton, 21 years of age, of 3166 St. Johns Church Road in Washington. Barnes-Lofton was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Carrying a Concealed Gun and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
