Rangeley’s Annual Town Meeting will be at the Rangeley Town Office on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.  Voting by written ballot will take place between 8:00am and 8:00pm.  A copy of the Annual Town report is currently available at the Town Office and should prove helpful for informed voting.
This year’s Annual Town Report is dedicated to Alice (Quimby) Smith.  Alice was in attendance at the May 17, 2021 Board of Selectmen’s meeting.  A Selectmen signed copy of the 2020 Town Report was presented to her in addition to the sincere “Thank You’s” for her many years of dedicated civil service to the Town of Rangeley. ....

New Johns Hopkins report details plan for digital equity in Baltimore


The lack of reliable access to broadband internet service for many in Baltimore, particularly the poor, has profound economic and social consequences. The COVID-19 pandemic has made this painfully clear with its abrupt shifts to online learning, remote work, and telemedicine. A new analysis from Johns Hopkins University s 21st Century Cities Initiative says the city could move towards digital equity, with a roadmap of recommendations built on existing knowledge of Baltimore s digital assets and the experiences of other cities.
Too often, the solutions [to repair the digital divide] have been sought in silos for schools, businesses, public housing, and residential areas when we need a broad solution that will serve the whole city, the report states. The city needs a holistic plan to address digital equity that reaches households, the young and the elderly, and small businesses that can drive economic growth in the city. ....

Monumental vote for supervisors: 2020 Comprehensive Plan adopted


‘It’s been a long road for the county’s vision document’ 
The jam-packed agenda for Monday’s regular meeting of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors included two public hearings, a COVID-19 presentation from the Virginia Department of Health, a review of the county’s financial audit, and last but certainly not least the unanimous adoption of the 2020 Comprehensive Plan, a vision document that will guide the county’s future land use planning. 
“Yay,” said Stonewall-Hawthorne representative Chris Parrish, raising a jubilant fist. 
“Thanks, everybody,” said Vice-Chair Debbie Donehey.
The comprehensive plan arrived in its current form after countless revisions by the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors over the course of the past year. In the eleventh hour before its approval Hampton Supervisor Keir Whitson walked the Board through a painstaking two-hour review of his last-minute line ....
