3 trade deadline scenarios for the Toronto Blue Jays

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports Everybody loves transactions. Whether your team is acquiring veteran players at the trade deadline for a postseason run, or whether it’s a rebuilding club gaining a highly touted prospect, there’s something for every team on the spectrum to enjoy. The Blue Jays are on the outside looking in for a playoff spot, but that doesn’t mean they’ll stand pat in the days and hours leading up into Friday’s trade deadline. It’s a fluid situation for a club like the Jays who are surely monitoring things closely as they sit withing striking distance of a playoff spot.

Today in Jays history: Happ hit by line drive

Today in Jays history: Happ hit by line drive Share this story Eight Years Ago Today Demond Jennings of the Rays. It was very scary looking. I’ll post the video, but I wouldn’t blame you for not watching. From the recap: Sean Rodriguez double and a James Loney single. Rodriguez was put out at the plate on a squeeze bunt, Edwin Encarnacion threw home late but the umpire felt that Rodriguez missed the plate. it looked like he was wrong to me, and to Joe Madden, who argued and was ejected. Then a Happ wild pitch scored one. Yunel Escobar followed with a single.

With Jameson Taillon, the Yankees Add Upside and Risk

January 25, 2021 Pittsburgh’s sell-off continued over the weekend, with the Pirates sending starting pitcher Jameson Taillon to the New York Yankees in return for four prospects. The 29-year-old didn’t pitch in 2020, his season lost due to rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery in late 2019, the second such surgery of his career. Taillon, a former 2010 first-round pick, has suffered more than his share of setbacks, missing three years of his career and most of a fourth due to his elbow injuries and a sports hernia; he also missed time in 2017 due to testicular cancer. He heads to a Yankees rotation with a lot of interesting upside talent and a surplus of question marks.
