A Malden woman is undergoing a series of shots after she was attacked by a rabid raccoon in her backyard.Laurie Rose says she heard her chicken, Alice, squawking Saturday evening and decided to go outside to put Alice in her pen. That s when she spotted the raccoon. It just charged me. I slipped and it grabbed a hold of my heel, and it would not let go, Rose said.Rose s husband, Brad Day, heard her yell so he came to help her. Day, who is blind, says it was challenging to help his wife, but he was ultimately able to fend off the raccoon with a pan. I had the pan in my hand, but I wasn t quite sure where the raccoon was, Day said. Laurie was screaming that it biting her.
