Lafayette man arrested for alleged kidnapping and torture of woman

LAFAYETTE, Illinois The Knox County Sheriff s Department was alerted to a Lafayette, Illinois man who reportedly kidnapped and tortured a woman.
On Saturday, January 23, the Department responded to the female victim, who had been in the emergency room with several notable injuries, including being shot multiple times with a gas-powered weapon, abrasions from a drill-powered wire brush, and bruises caused by punches and other weapons.
In the ensuing investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Lafayette resident Braden Mallery and a search warrant for his house.
In the residence, officers were able find several items that were described in the woman s testimony of her restraint and beating and matched her injuries. Detectives also found methamphetamine and and unlawfully-owned firearm. DCFS was also notified of the incident due to the presence of children in the house during the events. ....

Peoria area moves to COVID-19 Phase 4
PEORIA – Declining COVID-19 positivity numbers have put Peoria back to where it was in October, restriction-wise.
The state s COVID-19 website revealed the 21-county Region 2, which includes the Peoria area, has another sub-6.5% positivity day. That means Region 2 is out of the Tier 1 restrictions and back into full Phase 4, in which COVID-19 mitigation requirements are looser.
Peoria s Region 2 showed an overall positivity average of 5.6% on Monday as the state issued a news release that confirmed Region 1 and 2 s move to Phase 4.
The move means restaurants and bars can accommodate groups of up to 10 at tables and gatherings such as meetings, scout troops or even weddings can have up to 50 people at one time. GALESBURG A Lafayette man was arrested in Knox County Saturday and charged with unlawful restraint and aggravated domestic battery.
The arrest came after a woman at St. Mary s Emergency Room was treated for multiple injuries stemming from being held against her will and tortured for four days, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman had reportedly been shot multiple times with a CO2 powered weapon, had abrasions from a drill-powered wire brush and bruises from being punched and hit with various weapons.
The Knox County Sheriff s Department and Knox County State s Attorney s Office in their investigation took out an arrest warrant for Braden Mallery, 25 or Lafayette, Illinois, and a search warrant for his home. ....

Knox County Man Charged With Holding, Torturing Woman For Several Days

A Knox County man faces charges of holding a woman against her will and torturing her for four days at his house.
The Knox County Sheriff s Office said 25-year-old Braden Mallery of rural Lafayette was arrested on several charges, included aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic battery, interfering with a domestic battery report, possession of a firearm by a felon, and violation of the FOID Card Act.
Mallery reportedly held the woman in his garage.
Police seized a gun, ammunition, and methamphetamine from Mallery s residence.
The woman was taken to OSF Saint Mary s Medical Center in Galesburg with multiple injuries, including burns, abrasions, cuts, bruises, and broken bones. ....
