HALIFAX Nova Scotia RCMP say a 36-year-old man from Frankville, N.S. has been arrested and charged with child pornography offences. On Thursday, investigators with the RCMP s Provincial Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested the man and searched a home in Frankville after receiving information from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC). The man is facing several charges including two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of distribution of child pornography. He appeared in court and was released on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court in March. The RCMP are reminding the public that it is mandatory to report suspected child pornography. Failing to report such incidents could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act. ....
FRANKVILLE, ONT. The mural for a former Ottawa Senators goaltender that was removed from a bedroom wall in Frankville, is now ready to be auctioned off to raise funds for a young Brockville girl fighting cancer. The mural of Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Dominik Hasek was carefully removed from the home near Brockville in October and sent to the original artist who painted it, Michael O’Shea in Perth, to be touched-up. It is now back in Frankville, waiting for the auction to start on Friday Dec. 18. Honestly, 2020 is going to end on a great note. I believe that’s really where we’re heading, said Jennifer Hope, the owner of the home where the mural was located. ....
BROCKVILLE The township of Elizabethtown-Kitley is continuing its food drive on Saturday and it will take place in the northern part of the township. We’re looking for non-perishable food items like peanut butter, jams, cereal, anything that has a long shelf life, said Township Deputy Clerk Alison Merkley. We’re also looking for cleaning supplies, toiletries and personal hygienic items as well. We ask people to leave their items at the end of their driveways if they are along the route for us to collect, Merkley said. There are also drop off locations throughout the township where people can leave items, including Smith’s Farm Equipment in Jasper and fire station #3 in Frankville. ....
