Maine Nordiques select three in NAHL Supplemental Draft

The NAHL’s entry draft will be held July 14. ANOTHER TENDER Before the draft, the Nordiques announced the tender signing of forward Brendan Gibbons. The 19-year-old from South Kingston, Rhode Island, played in the NCDC with the Jr. Bruins and P.A.L. Islanders. In 33 regular season games, he tallied six goals and 13 assists. The Nordiques also officially announced that Maine Nordiques Academy 18U defenseman Kadsen Johnson has signed a tender with the NAHL team. He had 12 goals and 38 assists in 55 games with the 18U team. He also appeared in seven games with the NAHL Nordiques, recording two assists. Johnson was a supplemental draft pick by the Nordiques last year.

Yale’s success prompted a visit from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), whose staff wanted to see just how the Yale team was able to so efficiently vaccinate so many people, a figure that reached 411,000 vaccinations as of May 19.

On April 1 at midnight, half of the Staples student body scrambled to book their COVID vaccine appointment, eager to be granted “immunity” to the virus. This quick rollout fostered hope within the 16+ Staples High School community. However, this extra protection from the coronavirus came at a small cost many recipients’ arms were weak after the first shot, while some have been feeling ill for up to a week after their second dose.  After Sammy Webster ’21 was injected with her first shot, she didn’t experience many side effects, contrary to her preconceived notion about the repercussions. Even more intriguing, her entire family barely had a reaction to the second shot.
