SOUTHEASTERN NC  Over the past week, North Carolina is reporting Covid-19 cases at 718,812 and 8,695 deaths, with a 10.5% daily positive rate among those being tested. Though the overall numbers continue to rise, the seven-day average for new cases dropped from 8,711 on Jan. 11 to 6,199 on Jan. 18. The death average over seven days also went down, from 91 on Jan. 11 to 71 on Jan. 18. ....

N.B. puts Edmundston region in lockdown because of rapid increase of COVID-19 cases

New Brunswick s top doctor says the time is now for a lockdown in the Edmundston region.
Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province s chief medical officer of health, says the growth of cases in the Edmundston region (Zone 4) has reached a point where the strongest measures are needed. Two weeks ago, there were just seven cases in the region and now there are 129 active cases, including 19 new cases announced Friday.
The growth of cases in this zone and the spread through several workplaces and long-term care homes has really reached a point where the strongest measures are needed, Russell said during a news conference on Friday in Fredericton. The measures being announced today are stern but they are necessary. ....

N.B. reports 25 new cases of COVID-19; active cases increase to 256

New Brunswick is reporting 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Fifteen previously reported cases are now considered recovered, increasing the number of active cases in the province to 256, the largest number of active cases in the province since the pandemic began.
On Friday, New Brunswick Health reported four cases in Zone 1 (Moncton region), five cases in Zone 2 (Saint John region), five cases in Zone 3 (Fredericton region), six cases in Zone 4 (Edmundston region), four cases in Zone 5 (Campbellton region), and one case in Zone 6 (Bathurst region)

New Brunswick announced 19 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Seven previously reported cases are now considered recovered, increasing the number of active cases in the province to 230, the largest number of active cases in the province since the pandemic began.
On Wednesday, New Brunswick Health reported one case in Zone 1 (Moncton region), five cases in Zone 2 (Saint John region), three cases in Zone 3 (Fredericton region), eight cases in Zone 4 (Edmundston region), one case in Zone 5 (Campbellton region), and one case in Zone 6 (Bathurst region)
