The Managing Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Dubai Chapter NPIO has elected the following members at the 38th Annual General Meeting held recently for the term April 1, 2021 to 31 March, 2022.
Chairman: Sundar Nurani, elevated from vice chairman last year.
Vice Chairman: CA Anurag Chaturvedi secured 747 votes out of 1,266 member votes.
Secretary: CA Harikishan Rankawat secured 662 votes out of 1,258 member votes.
Treasurer: CA Manoj Agarwal secured 733 votes out of 1,268 member votes.
Executive Members: CA Jai Prakash Agarwal secured 873 votes; CA Manu Nair secured 798 votes; CA Rishi Chawla secured 631 votes; CA Amit Khaitan secured 610 votes; CA Priyanka Gupta secured 605 votes. ....

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said on Monday chief executive officers and managing directors at Indian private-sector banks will be eligible to hold these posts for up to 15 years, as it unveiled a series of rules on term limits.
Analysts welcomed the new rules and said they may be extended to the shadow banking sector as well.
“These are some learnings from the banking crisis that unfolded last year from the Yes bank case, so the RBI is putting these steps in place to ensure that such kind of issues doesn’t arise in future,” said Asutosh K Mishra, analyst at a domestic brokerage house, Ashika Stock Broking. ....

Covid vaccine spot sign-up hurdle in Salt Lake

Scores of people above 45 who turned up at vaccination centres in Salt Lake, Narayanpur, Rajarhat and nearby areas for their shots, returned home without getting the jabs because they had not pre-booked slots on the CoWin portal.
Authorities of the vaccination centres said they had no provision to register them on the spot.
From Thursday, anyone aged 45 or above could get a Covid shot. Till Wednesday, senior citizens and people between 45 and 59 with comorbidities were eligible for vaccine doses.
Several private hospitals and vaccine sites run by the Calcutta Municipal Corporation said they recorded a recipient’s personal details and administered the shot. A CMC official said they had directed all their vaccination centre personnel to not turn anyone away. ....
