Contributed Nine episodes later and the Disney+ original âWandaVisionâ feels like a whole new show, ditching the intimacy of strange, satirical sitcoms for a familiar Marvel-esque ending. In the context of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, this outcome is favorable. In terms of superhero storytelling, its epic finale is not particularly new. Five episodes into the series, âWandaVisionâ balanced the bygone era of sitcoms like âI Love Lucyâ and âThe Brady Bunchâ with side plots similar to âAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.â Except S.H.I.E.L.D. is replaced by S.W.O.R.D., an American extra-governmental intelligence agency. ....
WandaVision theories drying up along with it, but a whole new sub-genre of WandaVision discussions has risen up to fill the hex-shaped hole in our hearts: the “please explain The Hollywood Reporter including an explanation for why Evan Peters was cast as the fake version of Pietro and how Disney’s PR machine inadvertently spoiled what the writers thought was going to be a really cool twist. Advertisement As for Peters, who played a different incarnation of Wanda’s brother Pietro in Fox’s X-Men movies, Schaeffer says she didn’t want his appearance to be “a gimmick,” but rather a meta twist on the fact that Wanda knows he’s “ ....
I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke Show marathons on Nick At Nite, I was not among those itching for WandaVision to move past the spectacular channeling of classic TV. That said, I still pored over every weighted phrase and possible hint of what was to come. The world Wanda created was fascinating, and the fact that she had no idea how she did it made for riveting storytelling inside Westview, that is. I enjoy Josh Stamberg, but he was in a different show. Where the world of Westview’s sitcom imitations was exciting and new, Hayward’s mission felt like a stale rerun: setting the stage for Vision’s revival seemed somewhat unnecessary, and Monica Rambeau could’ve gotten her superhero origin story without a clichéd boss in the way. (I’d also add Monica’s long-touted mystery guest being a no-name agent to the manipulations list Sam started with Fake Pietro.) ....
âWandaVisionâ comes to an end this week, answering nearly every question the show poses as Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) controls Westview. The series ends with consequences for Wandaâs actions, spellbinding conflicts and exciting setup for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to use magic more freely. Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and Wandaâs battle quickly changes from a generic duel â continued from the previous episode â to a moral dilemma. Agatha attempts to make Wanda willingly surrender her powers, showing the damage Wanda has done to Westview. She also attempts to appeal to Wanda by keeping Westview up for her and improving the strength of the spells to keep her illusion going. Wanda has little room to fight as each attack is absorbed and causes damage to herself as well, leading to a fascinating discussion between the two characters. ....
