Rebranding Russia Today Following the Jan 6th attack on the Capitol, platforms purged users sharing extremist content from recognized domestic terror threats like Qanon. Censorship, specifically of conservatives, became a major theme in the Russia Today Telegram channel. Content sets up Putin as a true defender of free speech at the same time it has played up the censorship threat. Nevermind that Putin is likely responsible for the deaths of at least 22 journalists. The shift may hint at their ultimate aim. Recommended article from RT in the first week in February 2021 A few recent titles from RT on “big tech” and censorship: ....
Posted on January 28, 2021. How alt-tech social media networks become popular Over the last few days, Parler, a social media platform created in its own words as an alternative to the heavily censored Twitter, has been in the limelight. Parler was shut down due to its popularity among those supporters of Donald Trump who stormed the Capitol. However, Parler is not unique. There are other alt-tech social media networks and messenger apps such as Gab, Rumble and MeWe, which claim to be different from mainstream social media platforms in that they protect their users’ freedom of speech. Impeachment The 1619 Project From the removal of confederate monuments, to Major League Baseball admittance of the Negro Leagues into the sport’s official record book, to the President-Elect making racial equity one of the pillars of his upcoming administration, these actions owe a debt to the 1619 Project. If nothing else, it forced recognition of a complete “warts and all” re-telling of American history. Journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones came up with the idea for The New York Times’ 1619 Project, a groundbreaking re-examination of the role slavery played in the British colonies, later the United States. Especially the centrality of slavery to the growth of American capitalism. It is a seldom told story of how wealth was accumulated and general prosperity spread throughout the newly formed country, founded on freedom, by the enslavement of Africans. ....
March 5, 2019 The Washington Post, which specializes in yellow journalism, is trying to pin the horrific mass murderer in the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh on President Trump once again. They know full well that the killer was not motivated by anything the President did. In fact, the murderer, Robert Bowers, hates Jews but he also hates President Trump. WaPo’s Dana Milbank suggested that the President caused the mass murders at The Tree of Life synagogue last year while appearing on MSNBC. It’s really an evil thing for Milbank to do. Watch: MSNBC and The WaPo are trying to deflect from Ilhan Omar’s racism and anti-semitism. They prefer to protect an anti-Semite as long as she claims she’s a Democrat. ....
