An Australian computer scientist who alleges he created bitcoin has launched a London High Court lawsuit against 16 software developers in an effort to secure bitcoin worth around 4 billion pounds ($5.7 billion) he says he owns.
In a case that was promptly labelled bogus by one defendant, Craig Wright is demanding that developers allow him to retrieve around 111,000 bitcoin held at two digital addresses that he does not have private keys for. ....

LONDON (Reuters) - An Australian computer scientist who alleges he created bitcoin has launched a London High Court lawsuit against 16 software developers in an effort to secure bitcoin worth around 4 billion pounds ($5.7 billion) he says he owns.

Bitcoin Taproot upgrade faces difficulties as less than 28% voted for support

A new upgrade that would make the Bitcoin ecosystem more secure and user-friendly will be going live by the end of this year. 
The Taproot upgrade will require 90% of the processed blocks to signal support.
44% of blocks have not signaled support, putting the minimum required threshold far out of reach.
As part of Bitcoin’s evolutionary path, the Taproot upgrade is the latest step to enhance the network’s usability and security. The much-awaited upgrade is expected to go live at the end of this year.

Following the block size increase in 2017, Taproot is the most significant upgrade to the leading cryptocurrency network so far. Amendments to the Bitcoin network are relatively infrequent, as the process is difficult, having to achieve consensus among a diverse and dispersed group of participants.  ....

Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) notes that right before its recent direct listing, the company had teamed up with
Pledge 1% to create a corporate giving program that would “commit 1% of Coinbase profits, equity, and employee time toward charitable activities that leverage the power of crypto to help people around the world.”
