Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Police has filed cases against six private hospitals for irregularities in COVID-19 treatment, informed State Vigilance and Enforcement Director General KV Rajendranath Reddy on Thursday.
According to Reddy, joint teams of Vigilance and Enforcement, Drug Control and Medical and Health departments have held raids on 30 hospitals in the past two days.
They identified irregularities like treating COVID patients without permissions, collecting charges much higher than the government fixed prices, and not providing treatment under Arogyasri Scheme in six hospitals, he said. ....

Expedite Medical College Works in AP, Says CM YS Jagan

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday held a review meeting over the pace of construction of buildings to accommodate the newly sanctioned medical colleges with senior officials. He directed the officials to expedite the setting up of medical colleges in the state.
The AP Chief Minister instructed the officials to hold talks with all district collectors to acquire lands for college buildings and make sure there was no paucity of funds.
They said that tenders have been awarded for the works of medical colleges at Paderu, Pulivendula, Piduguralla and Machilipatnam so far, and stated that for the remaining 12 colleges, tenders would be called before May 21. ....

Amaravati, May 3: With the spike in COVID-19 cases, a partial curfew will be imposed in Andhra Pradesh for 14 days starting from Wednesday, May 5.
All the shops shall be open only from 6 AM to 12 PM with Section 144 in force and only emergency services will be allowed from thereon.
The decision was taken during a review meeting held at the Camp Office by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Covid, Vaccination, Nadu-Nedu (health), and YSR Kanti Velugu here on Monday,
The decision to impose a partial curfew was taken at the meeting in view of the spike in new infections in the second wave of the pandemic. The decision was taken balancing the daily needs of the people and ensuring that economic activity is not hit. ....

‘Collectors should ensure no delay in sanctioning of funds’
Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked the officials to accord a top priority to setting up medical colleges proposed across the State and expedite the works.
Reviewing the works under the Nadu-Nedu scheme on Monday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the works should start for the proposed colleges where judicial preview and tendering process have been completed.
Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the District Collectors to ensure that there were no delay in sanctioning funds for acquiring land for the medical colleges proposed in East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Kurnool districts. ....
