QU conducts novel research on use of 'lecture capture' in higher education

Doha: Qatar University’s (QU) College of Pharmacy has conducted novel research investigating the use of ‘lecture capture’, a system that records classroom lectures and makes them available after class.
The research highlights the College of Pharmacy keenness to study progression towards technology-enhanced learning in the region.
The study investigates the use of lecture capture within the undergraduate pharmacy program at QU and examines how the technology is being used by students at different levels of the curriculum (prior to COVID-19).

Mitsui : Japan's Mitsui to invest in UK carbon capture project

LONDON (Reuters) - Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co Ltd said on Wednesday it would invest in the development of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Britain.
The Japanese company will take a 15.4% share in Storegga Geotechnologies which is developing the Acorn CCS project to store carbon dioxide emissions in depleted North Sea oil and gas reservoirs.
CCS traps emissions and buries them underground but is not yet at the commercialisation stage.
The project is being led by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Storegga Geotechnologies, Pale Blue Dot Energy, with support from Macquarie Group with a 21.5% shareholding and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC with a 15.4% shareholding. ....

Joyce Chavez, the LM Reuse Asset manager, was pleased with the results. “I am so excited to see all of the wildlife activity on the site, as so many of our LM sites in the western United States are ideal for promoting native ecology,” she said.
From October 2019 to October 2020, thousands of pictures of wildlife were captured, including 11 mammal, eight bird, one lizard, and one grasshopper species. Wildlife included mule deer, elk, fox, coyote, northern harrier (hawk), wild turkey, black-tailed jackrabbit, mountain cottontail, striped skunk, numerous rodents, and even a hummingbird. No sage-grouse were documented. ....

The federal government has launched a $50 million fund to support the growth of carbon capture projects, which will include projects that reuse carbon dioxide emissions to make new products.
