After Friday’s record-setting pace, Sunday’s Qualifying Round finale was a much tougher, grueling day on the water for the 40 anglers in Group A at the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour General Tire Stage Five at the St. Lawrence River Presented by Berkley in Massena, N.Y.
After battling the windy conditions, when the final bass was tallied on Scoretracker Academy Sports + Outdoors pro Jacob Wheeler of Harrison coasted to victory in Group A, catching 66 bass totaling 222 pounds, 1 ounce – a new Bass Pro Tour record for the heaviest two-day Qualifying Round weight. Favorite Fishing pro Zack Birge of Blanchard, Ok., boated 15 scorable bass Monday weighing 25 pounds, 2 ounces to win the two-day Qualifying Group B round at the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour Berkley Stage Two at Lake Travis Presented by Mercury event in Austin, Texas. Day 1 leader, Academy pro Jacob Wheeler of Harrison, caught a two-day total of 18 bass weighing 58-3 to end the round in second place, and South Carolina angler Andy Montgomery finished the round in third place with a two-day total of 15 bass weighing 34-0.

Held on the beautiful Murray State University campus with daily activities on the shores of Kentucky Lake, the Wiley X High School Fishing Camp is the ultimate summer camp for serious high school anglers, boat captains, coaches and parents who are interested in pursuing their students’ next steps in tournament fishing and aim to push their skills to a higher level.

The first 25 high school teams that enter each U.S. Army High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing tournament will receive a free Favorite Fishing package, including one Favorite Fishing casting rod and reel, one Favorite Fishing spinning rod and reel, six packs of Googan Baits and two Favorite Fishing hats, a total package value of $230. Most tournaments will also be hosted by a Bass Pro Tour angler or Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit angler, giving high school students the chance to meet the sport’s top pros. After the last fish had been tallied, pro Fletcher Shryock of Guntersville, Alabama , earned the Group A Qualifying Round victory, catching a two-day total of 23 bass weighing 88 pounds, 13 ounces, and punching his ticket directly into Wednesday’s Championship Round.
