Chattogram police arrested three Monir Hossain (40), his wife Khuku Moni (28) and a CNG driver Mahfuz on May 21 for stealing Tk 27 lakh. At a press conference yesterday, Deputy Commissioner (South) of CMP, Bijoy Basak, said, "Monir is a professional and notorious thief. He used to move around in a rented CNG-run auto rickshaw and targeted offices and businesses at night."
Ctg police declares 8 ‘highly infected areas’ without health officials’ approval

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) declared eight areas under three police stations in the port city as highly infected areas for Covid-19 today.
The CMP officials were seen closing the gates of Jainagar Residential Area under Chawkbazar Police Station hanging a signboard saying Red zone this afternoon.
The CMP officials did the same at five residential areas in Rampur under Halishahar Police Station and two areas at Saraipara under Pahartali Police Station.
However, officials of Health department could not say on what basis CMP declared some areas as red zones for Covid-19 infection.

Young banker and businessman Abdul Morshed Chowdhury became the victim of secret business of illegal money investment of Whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury’s son Nazmul Haque Chowdhury Sharun.
Sharun lends his ill-gotten money to businessmen through others and uses his political clout to realise huge amounts in capital and interests.
He also inflicts torture on businessmen if they fail to pay back money as per his demand.
The bank official failed to buy relief from Sharun even after paying around Tk 38 crore against a loan of Tk 25 crore. He had to choose the path of suicide failing to bear the political and administrative pressure for paying more, family members said.
