Ctg police declares 8 ‘highly infected areas’ without health officials’ approval

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) declared eight areas under three police stations in the port city as highly infected areas for Covid-19 today.
The CMP officials were seen closing the gates of Jainagar Residential Area under Chawkbazar Police Station hanging a signboard saying Red zone this afternoon.
The CMP officials did the same at five residential areas in Rampur under Halishahar Police Station and two areas at Saraipara under Pahartali Police Station.
However, officials of Health department could not say on what basis CMP declared some areas as red zones for Covid-19 infection.

Action to be taken, if educational institutions reopened defying govt order: Nowfel

CHATTOGRAM, April 8, 2021 (BSS) – Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel said the government will take stern action if any educational institutions are kept open violating the government order.
He made the comment to journalists after receiving the second dose of corona vaccine at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Thursday noon.
The deputy minister said the cabinet has decided not to reopen the educational institutions amid sharp rise of COVID-19 cases across the country.
“The police administration has already been instructed in this regard. Police will monitor the matter strictly from today (Thursday). Action will be taken against those who will keep the educational institutions open without following the government instructions,” he added.

With the worsening situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, field hospitals and isolation centres in he port city are opening again, to handle the increasing numbers of patients.
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) opened a 50-bed isolation centre at Laldighi Par in port city on Tuesday, after the second wave of Covid-19 hit the country.
Besides, Bidyanando Foundation in assistance with Premier University Chattogram and Chattogram Metropolitan Police is going to open a 70-bed field hospital soon.

Covid-19 vaccination began across the country this morning.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the programme by addressing vaccination teams through video conferencing from the health directorate.
Later, the minister received vaccine at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute and Hospital vaccination centre where five teams will inoculate 162 people today.
