It was recently reported that the PM has asked the Ministry of Finance and the Power Division to reduce circular debt without increasing the tariff, and handle the capacity charges.
One is relieved to hear of the PM’s interest in the issue. Indeed, the best option is to somehow reduce the capacity charge which has been increasing due to slow demand and higher capacity cost. Increase in tariffs would have political consequences among rising inflation. Even the economy and exports may be hurt due to an increase in electrical tariff. ....

Financing for largest RLNG power plant arranged - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: The government on Friday announced the financial closing of a 1,263-megawatt power project of the Punjab government to be located near Trimmu Barrage, Jhang.
This is so far the largest RLNG-based power generation project in Pakistan and is being developed under Power Generation Policy 2015.
The financial closing ceremony was witnessed by Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar and Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik. This was the major project that came under criticism during the PML-N tenure as various relevant government agencies considered it be over and above the needed capacity.
Financial closing documents were signed by Managing Director of Private Power & Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Shah Jahan Mirza and Chief Executive Officer of PTPL Akhtar Hussain Mayo. ....

ISLAMABAD:
The 1,263-megawatt Punjab Thermal Power Limited (PTPL) power project costing $708 million has achieved financial close.
The power plant located near Trimmu Barrage, Jhang district is based on re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) and so far it is the largest RLNG-based power generation project established under the Power Generation Policy 2015.
The financial close ceremony was held on Friday and it was attended by Federal Energy Minister Hammad Azhar and Punjab Energy Minister Akhtar Malik. ....

After years of railing boringly against three act structure and
the strictures of the Hollywood system, I couldn t have been more delighted to sit down in front of a black and white movie with no dialogue, no human voice at all, no music, no apparent story and no sense of anything happening beyond the candid random wanderings and snufflings of a selection of farmyard animals.
I became intrigued by the rebellion of my mind at the lack of action and the long sequences of piglets walking around after their mother.
