NPFL: Kwara Utd Draw at Wikki to Remain at the Summit

Kwara United remained on top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) yesterday despite picking a point away at Wikki Tourist.
Jibola Adeleke’s 82nd equaliser gave the leaders from Ilorin the point in Bauchi, which keeps them at the summit of the Nigerian topflight.
Before Adeleke’s goal, Chinedu Udeagha had put the hosts ahead from the spot in the 39th minute. Kwara are on 26 points from 14 matches.
Elsewhere, Kano Pillars and Rangers, who battle to another 1-1 result, trail the leaders by two points. Both Pillars and Rangers have only goal difference advantage over Enyimba, who are rested for the forthcoming continental fixture. ....

Adamawa United continued its resurgence with a convincing 2-0 defeat of Dakkada on Matchday 14 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) which also saw Rivers United return to winning ways after two defeats and a draw.
But it’s Kwara United that retained its place at the top of the NPFL after a late equalizer by Jibola Adeleke in Bauchi where they picked up a 1-1 draw. Chinedu Udeagha had given Wikki Tourists the lead in the 39th minute. Kwara United are now unbeaten in their last four matches.
In the top of the table clash between Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers, there was nothing to separate both teams as the tie ended in a 1-1 draw. Rangers had taken an early lead in the 9th minute through Ernest Governor but Pillars equalized through Auwalu Ali Malam. Pillars are now 2nd on the table while Rangers are 3rd. ....

NPFL 21: Abia Warriors Thrash Warri Wolves, Heartland Hold Sunshine Stars In Akure


 
Abia Warriors gave Warri Wolves some good spanking on matchday 11 of the Nigeria Professional Football League to record their third win of the season.
The match played at the Okigwe Township Stadium ended 4-1 in favour of the Warriors who are gradually finding their rhythm after a bad start to the campaign.
As early as three minutes into the match, Sunday Williams opened scoring for coach Imama Amapakabo’s team but it didn’t take long before Chukwuemeka Obioma levelled up for the visitors.
Just before half-time, Godwin Obaje capitalised on poor defending by Warri Wolves to double the lead of the Warriors. ....

Nasarawa Utd cage Wolves 2-1 to maintain unbeaten run

Red-hot Nasarawa United yesterday defeated Warri Wolves 2-1 at the Warri Township stadium in one of the week six matches to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, season.
With their second away victory of the season, Nasarawa United have shot to the top of the table with 14 points from six matches and are closely followed by Rivers United on 12 points but victory over Kano Pillars on Wednesday in Kaduna will see the ‘Pride of Rivers’ topple Nasarawa United.
Although Uche Ihuarulam had put Warri Wolves ahead in the 21st minute, Silas Nwankwo capitalised on poor defending by the home lads to equalise for the visitors in the 63rd minute. ....

Rivers United have recorded their fourth win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Heartland Football Club at the Adokiye Amesiemeka Stadium on matchday 5.
Losing to Wikki Tourists by a single goal in Bauchi last week Wednesday, the league leaders needed to bounce back, prove their current form is not a fluke and they did just that against Heartland.
From the start of the game, the Pride of Rivers showed their desire for the win. As early as 15 minutes into the game, they were awarded a penalty when Heartland’s Pascal Eze handled the ball in the box. The admirable Godwin Aguda stepped up to the spot and scored. ....
