Apr 10, 2021 Capital Region news and broadcast legend Ernie Tetrault has died. Tetrault started at WRGB in 1951, and he became a fixture in the newsroom as the lead anchor in the 1970s. He interviewed Presidents and went to Vietnam to cover America s long war in that country. He also went to Saudi Arabia to cover U.S. Forces engaged in the Persian Gulf War. Back here, he did a highly regarded investigative series on the homeless in our area and Tetrault lived on the streets to more effectively cover the story. He also did some reporting for WGY News when WGY and WRGB were in the same Balltown Road studios in Niskayuna. ....
Residents of one Schenectady County town will elect a new supervisor this fall. Niskayuna Town Supervisor Yasmine Syed is not seeking a third two-year term. The Republican says she will leave office at the end of the year and move to the Syracuse area, where her husband will be stationed with the Air Force Medical Service Corps. Running to replace Syed is Democrat Jaime Lynn Puccioni, a University at Albany education professor who serves on Niskayuna’s Task Force of Racial Equity and Justice. We moved here when my son was in elementary school, and now we re looking at colleges. I ve seen firsthand that Niskayuna is a wonderful town, we have great schools quality of life, diversity. And over the years, our family has enjoyed all the town has to offer, from the town parks, to the green spaces, youth sports, summer camps, even activities organized by the senior center. But, you know, for all the great aspects of Niskayuna, I am the type of person who is always looking ....

Shares0 NISKAYUNA Early broadcasting pioneer Ernie Tetrault “the” anchorman at WRGB Channel 6 to many people who watched TV news in the Capital Region from the 1970s into the 1990s was recalled Friday as a friend, colleague and dedicated newsman. Tetrault died Thursday night at a Schenectady nursing home. He was 94 and had been in declining health. The CBS affiliate station, which is based on Balltown Road in Niskayuna, broke the news early Friday. Tetrault remains a legend there, and in the public mind, though it has been nearly 30 years since he regularly appeared on a newscast. ....
