Cllr Paul Heslop with a British Gurkha soldier on a previous visit to Nepal A KEARSLEY-based charity which provides aid to some of the poorest parts of Nepal has voiced its fears about the devastating impact Covid-19 is having on the country. Cllr Paul Heslop is a trustee of the charity AMFD, which has been helping people in the country since 2014. Nepal now has a growing virus rate. Since the beginning of May, the country has been registering around 9,000 new cases a day - with a population of around 30 million. Cases have been reported in the Mount Everest base camp and their have been worries that tourism could drop drastically as other parts of the world begin to re-open. ....

Kearsley Scheme WORRIES have been expressed about parking on the A666 through Kearsley after plans were revealed for a new cycling route which will be separated from the main road by bollards. Some residents and a local councillor say problems and much inconvenience will be caused by the placement of ‘orca wands’ outside properties , where residents park their cars. Bolton Council has started a consultation on the matter. They outlined their hopes for the scheme, saying: “The proposed scheme seeks to enhance the existing cycle lane provision along the A666 Manchester Road and Bolton Road, between Farnworth town centre and the borough boundary with Salford. ....
