CSC Nouvelon’s Académie virtuelle to host virtual open house SHARE ON: The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s plans to offer complete online schooling in September. Académie virtuelle is hosting a virtual open house for students choosing virtual learning from home for the up-coming school year. Board communication director Paul de la Riva says parents will learn more about how the school operates, get to know some of the school staff, discover some of its success stories, and hear testimonials from parents and students from the virtual school. He says there were 331 students registered for the program this spring. ....

SHARE ON: Bridges and music have been the focus for some Renaissance students lately. Photos provided by Paul de la Riva. Before the recent return to online learning in March, Grade 4 students at École catholique La Renaissance in Espanola built musical instruments as part of their science class to strengthen their learning of sound. Communication director Paul de la Riva says working in small groups, the students were able to plan, prepare, and make an instrument that they could later use to play music for friends in the class. And Grade 5 students had to assemble materials at home that would be powerful enough to build a bridge with great success. ....
SHARE ON: Virtual celebrations and building new traditions This year, with gatherings not being possible, Blind River’s French-langue Catholic school is hosting virtual celebrations via the Microsoft Teams platform and putting the electronic whiteboards to good such. With students and staff celebrating every month various holidays and successes, the festive spirit is stronger than ever at École Saint-Joseph. To reinforce the feeling of solidarity, each class decorates their learning space according to the occasion. On Franco-Ontarians Day, each grade level created its own flag to display their pride. On Halloween, students paraded in front of the camera to show off their beautiful costumes as well as their classroom’s spooky decor. More recently, on Remembrance Day, each group created a memorial bulletin board to honour the soldiers. ....
