Delta flight returns to Atlanta after birds hit windshield May 10, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail ATLANTA (AP) A flight from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., made an unscheduled landing after being struck by birds, a Delta Air Lines spokesman said. It happened Sunday during takeoff, as Flight 2281 left Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said. The plane returned to Atlanta and the gate, so that passengers could board another flight to Washington late Sunday night, he said. WJLA-TV Managing Editor Paul Gourley, who was on the flight, said the plane made an emergency landing after the jet s cockpit windshield was struck. He posted a picture on Twitter of the bird s remains on the windshield. In the Twitter post, he congratulated the crew members for their calmness and professionalism in getting the plane back safely. ....
John Roy Gourley John Roy Gourley, 70, a lifelong resident of Sugar Grove, Pa., and a snowbird to Clearwater, Fla., completed his journey and was called home to heaven where he met his savior, Jesus Christ on March 29, 2021. John was born on Nov. 30, 1950, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late James William and Viola Benson Gourley. John attended Sugar Grove Elementary School and graduated from Eisenhower High School and Hobart Welding School in Hobart Ohio. John proudly served his country in the United States Marines in Okinawa. He worked at Betts Industries in Warren, Cummins Engine in Jamestown and was retired from his employment at Warren State Hospital where he was a security guard for many years in the Forensic Building. ....
