A COUPLE have spoken for the first time about the anguish of looking after their baby for the one day it survived – and the amazing support that they had been given. Nurses had allowed them to hold baby Thea, to bath her and to be along with her as a family. They even took around 300 photos of the one day of her life and had them all printed out to give the family a memory of their little girl. Parents Kathleen Brown and Paul Gibson, from Maryport, were concerned when, at her 12-week scan, Kathleen was told that there was a “small problem” with the baby’s bladder.

One fire engine from Barrow Fire Station was called out to the blaze on Monday night. The duty manager said: We were called out to a small fire at the playpark. The fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries suffered. Sam Kate Butler said: We live round this area and it s so sad to see that somebody has done this, the poor children are absolutely devastated since we have only had the new park for a few year. John Eccles said: We need to find those responsible. Too many arson attacks lately. There was one the other week by Vue and now this. It is mindless vandalism and could of put lives at risk with the toxic smoke.
