400-plus toast racks go under the hammer for breast cancer


Owner Pauline Gordon has spent decades adding to her collection which features pieces by the likes of collectable makers James Kent, Clarice Cliff and Royal Winton. These sit alongside novelty shapes such as beehives, cottages and alligators.
The time period covered extends from pre-war to modern toast racks, sourced both here and overseas – including by family members who spotted the odd special piece while travelling and posted it home.

‘Providers’ sought to take over shire’s home day care
THERE are 145 families and 183 children affected by Mornington Peninsula Shire’s decision to stop administering family day care services.
As well as finding “redeployment options” for its two children’s services officers, the shire says it is “committed to supporting each [of 25 educators] to find a preferred [commercial] provider to ensure a smooth transition for themselves and their families”.
The shire says there has been a steady decline in demand for the service, which coincides with a rise in the number of commercial day care providers (“Shire closes door on family day care” ....

Unilever takes on social inequality with 'trailblazing' supply chain targets | The Social Enterprise Magazine

Consumer goods giant Unilever has pledged to spend €2bn each year by 2025 with suppliers owned and managed by people ‘from under-represented groups’.
The firm announced the target yesterday as part of its efforts to tackle social inequality, which it described as one of the “world’s biggest threats”. Unilever had a turnover of €52bn in 2019 and has more than 400 brands, including Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream and Dove beauty products. Its total supply chain spend in 2019 was €33.7bn.
Suppliers targeted in the new strategy include small and medium-sized businesses owned and managed by women, under-represented racial and ethnic groups, people with disabilities and LGBTQI+ people.  ....
