Police arrested two people Saturday in connection with a Christmas Eve stabbing in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, that left one person seriously injured, the town s police chief said.
Eric Wise, 36, and Molly Flaherty, 33, both from Bridgewater, were taken into custody without incident, according to a statement from Bridgewater police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte. They were arrested on charges of assault and battery, assault with intent to murder, unarmed robbery and assault with intent to commit a felony.
Police were called about a man being stabbed at Kingswood Park Village around 7:15 p.m. Christmas Eve. Officers found a man who had been stabbed twice in the lower back, according to police. ....

Heroin Potentially Moving Into Southwest Nova Scotia Communities

Heroin has been found in two Southwestern Nova Scotia counties for the first time in nine years.
This according to a Nova Scotia frontline drug report from the Dept. of Health and Wellness presented this year which states the drug has turned up in police seized powder in both Lunenburg and Yarmouth County this year.
The report notes this is the first time the drug has popped up in these areas since they began tracking it in 2011.
However, local law enforcement and addiction workers in Lunenburg County say they haven’t seen the drug as of yet.
Bridgewater Police deputy chief Danny MacPhee said he doesn’t recall seeing or seizing the drug within the last year, but hearing non-pharmaceutical opioids are re-entering communities doesn’t come as surprising to him. ....

With two accidents involving pedestrians being struck by vehicles within 24 hours, police are asking drivers to slow down and be mindful when they hit the road.
A pedestrian was struck in a crosswalk Tuesday just before noon on Aberdeen Road and North Street after a vehicle failed to yield for the crosswalk at the intersection.
Incidents like this tend to happen more this time of year due to a number of factors, said Bridgewater Police deputy chief Danny MacPhee. ....
