Some people make a huge impact in a situation in a short time. Such was the military career of World War II veteran William Bader who served for six months in the Army.
Bader, 98, a 1941 Norwood High School graduate, tried to enlist right out of high school. Three of his brothers already were serving, a fourth was medically excused and his mother begged those in charge not to let him go.
It worked, at least temporarily, but Bader was drafted in November 1944 and sent to Paris where he joined the 5th Division, 3rd Infantry, under General George Patton.
