Premium Content Subscriber only A Gladstone magistrate said he had heard a defendant’s excuse “a thousand times” when sentencing him on Tuesday. David John Roberts, 31, pleaded guilty to unlicensed driving. The court heard that on December 20 last year, Roberts’ licence was SPER suspended. On December 31, at the Rocky Glen Hotel parking lot, police observed a white Mercedes-Benz parked and Roberts get out of it. He walked towards the venue, then returned to his car and drove away. On January 2 this year, police attended Roberts’ address and questioned him about his reasons for driving while unlicensed.

Woman runs from police after pub argument

Robyn Lesley Metcalfe, 53, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to obstructing police and committing public nuisance. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of Metcalfe’s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne. On March 20 police were tasked to attend the Rocky Glen Hotel in relation to an incident. Police attended and spoke to security who told them a man and a woman, eventually identified as Metcalfe, had left on foot heading down the Dawson Hwy.

Woman fined after pub argument

Premium Content Subscriber only A heated family argument resulted in a woman calling patrons of a busy Gladstone pub “b ” and “c ”, a court has heard. Charmaine Rose Weimer, 23, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to committing public nuisance. Police prosecutor Carl Spargo read the facts of Weimer’s case to the court and Magistrate Bevan Manthey. On February 28, about 7pm, police attended the Rocky Glen Hotel at West Gladstone in relation to a disturbance. Police arrived and took up with witnesses who stated they observed Weimer drunk and using offensive language, calling other patrons “b ” and “c -”.

Accused Gladstone police evader applies for bail

Premium Content Subscriber only A Gladstone man in custody after allegedly racking up more than 22 offences in a shocking crime spree applied for bail on Tuesday. Michael Bernard Luke Delta, 28, appeared from the Gladstone watchhouse via video-link before Magistrate Bevan Manthey and police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd. Mr Boyd made reference to some of Delta’s alleged offending, which included several instances of evading police, like he allegedly did on January 13, 2021. Gladstone police were conducting patrols on Far St, West Gladstone at 10.15am when they allegedly observed Delta driving a stolen car on the Dawson Highway. Five minutes later police allege they saw the car again on Far Street, however, Delta allegedly had a black scarf covering part of his face this time.
