HHS provides $86.6 million to businesses in Spartanburg under CARES ACT


Through the fourth quarter of 2020, businesses in Spartanburg received $86.6 million in health-related relief from the CARES act issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.
According to numbers reported through the fourth quarter of 2020, businesses in South Carolina received $1.2 billion in health-related relief from the CARES act issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. The largest recipient of funding in the state was Prisma Health-Upstate with a total of $131 million. The average loan size in the city was $524,944 while the state s average loan amount was $258,718.
Of the money distributed, $30 billion went out automatically to health providers based on previous year medicare payments. If the money wasn t returned within 90 days the provider is then automatically entered into the repayment terms that are issued by HHS. Youth Council brings snowflakes to town
Smithfield Youth Council’s Mia Holroyd shows off a snowflake before hanging it on her window. The Council designed the Smithfield Snowstorm project encouraging residents to make snowflakes and hang them in their windows as a community unifying project.
SMITHFIELD – While Rhode Island experienced its first major snowstorm last week, the Smithfield Youth Council proposed its latest community unifying event, the Smithfield Snowstorm, which encourages people to put cut-out snowflakes in the windows of businesses and homes.
The Youth Council is asking the Smithfield community to hang snowflakes in windows around town to show each other there is still fun to be had while being socially distant. ....
